Petrol ürünü ayırıcılar, pis su veya yağış suyu te- sisatına makine yağı, benzin, mazot benzeri petrol ürünlerinin karışmasını önlemek amacıyla kullanılır. Tasarımları ve çalışma esasları yağ ayırıcılara ben- zer. Gerek yağ, gerek petrol ürünü ayırıcılar, yağların ve petrol ürünlerinin sudan daha hafif olmalarından yararlanarak ayırma işlemi gerçekleştirir. Yağlar yüzecek, suda aşağıda kalacaktır. Petrol ürünü ayı- rıcıların giriş kısımlarında bulunan çıkarılabilir tortu kovası taş, tortu ve diğer yabancı maddelerin petrol ürünü ayırıcıya girdikleri ilk aşamada ayrılmasını sağ- lar. Tortu kovasının perfore delikli akış düzenleyici engel levhası da türbülansı önler ve ayrılma işleminin verimini yükseltir.

Petroleum product separators ar e used with the aim of preventing the contamination of the waste or rain water installations by such petroleum products as machine oil, gasoline or diesel. Their designs and principles ofoperation are similar to the oil separa- tors. Both oil and petroleum product separators per- form the separation process by taking the advantage that oils are much lighter than petroleum products. Oils rise to the surface while water remains at the bottom. The removable residue strainer attached to the intake of petroleum product separators enables to separate residue, stone and other foreign objects at the first stage after flowing into the petroleum product separator. The perforated barrier plate of the residue strainer, that regulates the flow, prevents turbulence and increases  the efficiency of separation process.
